PCN Demographic Import

EMIS can provide a Demographic Import of all patients of all member practices of a PCN. The cost of this (April 2025) is £1,047.75 excluding VAT.

A Demographic Import would deliver the following advantages to a EMIS PCN Hub:

• Ensures that patients using the hub for the first time are already registered, minimising administrative workload and errors
• GP Practices could use Cross Organisational Booking rather than GP Connect for Appointment Bookings (so no need for Smartcards)
• Because patient demographic details will be available on the hub, PCNs (and Practices) will be able to use triage and appointment booking tools such as eConsult, accurx, Hero Health and Rapid Health to share appointment slots, questionnaires, forms and messaging

Other considerations:

• Patients already registered on the PCN will not be imported (Optum Health check for NHS Numbers and Date of Birth to avoid any duplications).
• Patients registered at a member GP Practice after the import will have to be traced into the hub
• Patient details will be kept up to date via the NHS PDS service (as long as PCN staff are logging in with Smartcards)

To complete a PCN Demographic Import:

• Get a quote from Optum Health
• Complete the PCN Demographic Import – Order Request Form (you will need the NACS Code and CDB Number of each Practice in your PCN)
