PCN EMIS Hub – Configuration Checklist

Listed below are the configuration steps required to set up a PCN Hub. Some are mandatory, others optional. The spreadsheet below gives more detail about the requirements and process of each step.

Mandatory

  • Procure PCN Hub Clinical System
  • PCN Organisation Data Service (ODS) Code
  • Request Prescribing Cost Centre & Spurious Code
  • Create Smartcard Roles
  • Activate Patient Demographic Services (PDS) – EMIS
  • Activate Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) – EMIS
  • Activate GP Connect (Appointments, Send Documents) – EMIS
  • Data Sharing Agreements – Care Record, Tasks, Appointments
  • Enterprise Data Sharing Agreement – Consultation Write Back
  • Service/Hub Design – what services do the PCN wish to run from their Hub?
  • Configure Hub – Users, Appointment Books, Templates, Reports, Protocols, Services, Task Groups, eMED3 Fit note
  • Import Clinical and Document Template
  • Set up National Slot Mapping (GPAD)

Optional

  • PCN Demographic Upload – EMIS
  • Activate Summary Care Record (SCR) Access – EMIS
  • Message Exchange for Social Care and Health (MESH) – For Pathology Results – EMIS
  • Set up Patient Access and Engagement tools (online consultations, appointments, messaging)
  • NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS) – EMIS (may not be available for Clinical Services)
  • Set up PCIT/Ardens Templates and Reports (additional set up and subscription costs)
  • Activation of Integrated 3rd Party Products – Patient Access tools etc
  • Activate Docman Share
  • Set up Online Test Requests/Path Links (optional)
  • Set up 111/Urgent Care Direct Booking (optional)
  • EMIS Enterprise, Search and Reports (optional)
